Dream Kitchen Cookware Essentials

How well equipped is your kitchen? If you’re proud of your cookware, take advantage of National Selfie Day and show us your favorite utensils by taking pictures with them!

If on the other hand, you are still building a full kitchen, we have created a list showcasing essential items needed in your kitchen to create delicious dishes, with inspiration and no limitations.

A Full Set of Knives

A set of good knives is an essential investment for your kitchen because, as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." A cheap knife not only lasts a short time, but it gets dull quickly, which leads to a higher likelihood of accidents in your kitchen.

There are several types of knives that are specifically designed to cut different kinds of ingredients. These are the main ones:

  • Chef's Knife - An essential! This multi-purpose knife allows you to cut all types of food effortlessly and accurately.
  • Bread Knife - With a little narrower blade, this is similar to the Chef's Knife in size and has serrated blades that make it perfect for cutting bread and biscuits without crushing them.
  • Santoku Knife - This is the Japanese version of Chef's Knife best used for chopping, dicing and mincing.
  • Filet Knife - The knife is sharp and flexible it is designed to cut meats and fish with greater precision.
  • Paring Knife - This small knife is designed for making small cuts, peeling and slicing food. It’s perfect for slicing soft, juicy fruits and vegetables.

Cutting Boards

Where do you plan on cutting your protein, fruits and veggies? Please don’t say the countertop! A good cutting board protects not only your countertops, but also your fingers. It can also give a nice decorative touch to your kitchen, and it's great for serving cheese and charcuterie to guests.

Cutting boards come in different sizes, shapes and materials, and bamboo boards are a favorite because they are eco-friendly, extremely durable and non-absorbent, which makes them less prone to warping and cracking and more resistant to bacteria than wooden boards.

The Royal Prestige® Bamboo Cutting Boards are great options because the sleek bamboo design reduces the risk of accumulating micro-organisms and the varied sizes means that there is one for any size space.

A High-Quality Skillet

A skillet is essential to have in every kitchen, so you'll surely need one or more to use as you fry and sauté different kinds of meats and veggies.

The Royal Prestige® NOVEL™ line has a variety of skillets in different sizes available in 8, 10, 10½ and 12 inches. A great feature is that their construction lets you cook a variety of recipes with less oil, and in some cases with no oil at all!

Stock Pots and Saucepans

What about pots and pans? How many of them do you have? These are essential for stove-top cooking like simmering or boiling.

Having a great set of pots and pans is foundational for a well-equipped kitchen. You can use larger stock pots and dutch ovens for making broths and soups, cooking pasta or boiling potatoes, green plantains, yucca or corn; while smaller saucepans are helpful for making sauces, heating up leftovers and making smaller portions.

Royal Prestige®’s NOVEL™ Cooking Systems have you covered no matter what your needs or budget. If you just need the basics, the 5-piece Complementary Cooking System with two dutch ovens and one saucepan of varying sizes will do the trick, but if you are starting from scratch and need something more complete, definitely go with the 10-piece Family Cooking System. You can also add paella pans or stockpots to any system to round them out.

And if you really want all the bells and whistles, our Milk and Butter Warmers are the perfect addition. At just one quart or a half-quart capacity, respectively, these cute, smaller saucepans have easy-pour spouts that are great for making tea, heating milk or preparing baby food.

Bakeware

Having a solid bakeware set with pans, plates and sheets of diverse sizes is essential not only for baking treats like cookies, cakes, pizzas and pies, but also for roasting things like veggies and potatoes. Stainless steel bakeware is the only way to go for this type of cooking— ask any chef or restaurant owner! Not only is it virtually indestructible, but it distributes heat evenly so that your goodies bake consistently and it prevents food from sticking— so say bye-bye to slaving over your sink at night with a steel wool, trying to get off all the baked-on gunk.

The Royal Prestige® 7-piece Bakeware set comes in heavy gauge stainless steel, and includes two 9-inch (23 cm) cake pans, two 9-inch (23 cm) pie plates, one 12-inch (30.5 cm) pizza pan and two 12x15-inch (30.5x38 cm) cookie sheets. With this set you can make a complete meal— including dessert!

Mixing Bowls

Another essential in your kitchen, mixing bowls are used for everything from mixing to serving, storing, or carrying meals to potlucks or backyard barbecues. These bowls come in different sizes and materials, but many folks favor those made from stainless steel.

The 10-quart mixing bowl from Royal Prestige® is a stainless steel bowl with an anti-slip base and a lid to keep your food fresh and prevent spills. You can’t go wrong using this bowl to stored chopped fruit or salad, and its sleek design and thoughtful features are sure to impress your friends when you bring your favorite dish to the next gathering.

Griddles and Grills

Griddles allow you to cook with very little fat or oil.

They are great for cooking all kinds of eggs—from sunny-side up to scrambled. They are also excellent tools for heating tortillas and for making pancakes.

The Royal Prestige® NOVEL™ line includes two versions: the Square Griddle measuring 11 in (28 cm) on each side, and the Double Griddle, which is larger at 18x10 in (45.7x25.4 cm). Both are induction capable and oven-safe up to 400°F.

For easier grilling of meats and veggies indoors, as well as grilling your paninis and other delectable sandwiches, try the Royal Prestige® INNOVE™ Round Grill. At only 12” in diameter, it will fit in any kitchen, and its raised ridges not only give your meats and sandwiches those appealing grill marks, but they keep the grease off of your food.
